About Me

I am a jewellery designer based in Cape Town, South Africa and Dublin, Ireland. A little bit of background : I am a graduate of Cape Town Peninsular University of Technology. Between 2005 and 2009 I completed a BTech degree in Jewellery Design and Manufacture and  graduated top of my class. In those 5 years we are trained as silversmiths, learning metalworking techniques, drawing and design.

This training also included hand manufacturing in 18ct gold and platinum in our final 2 years. I also partook in a national platinum competition, PlatAfrica in 2008 and 2009. I enjoy manufacturing in alternative materials such as wood and resin and combining them with precious metals. Design is a definite passion of mine and I relish in a new aesthetic challenges.

I am currently enrolled at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, in a 2 year MA degree.

Skills:

Jewellery manufacture and bench skills: all basic metal smithing and jewellery manufacturing skills, enamelling, basic setting, experience in silver, gold and platinum manufacturing.

Intensive 3 week gemmology course experience (covering all basic and precious gemstones) and 1 and a half years’ retail experience with diamond and tanzanite gemstones.

Jewellery design and drawing skills, including hand drawn technical jewellery drawing as well as CAD CAM modelling skills

Two years Rhino digital designing as well as a year of rapid prototyping and 3D printing experience as part of MA project.
